Phillip White
Vice President/General Manager
Light Records, Life2
As Vice President/General Manager, Phillip White is
responsible for overseeing marketing, managing production, and
developing new artists for Compendia Music Group’s Light Records and
Life2 labels.
White’s more than 20 years experience in the music business includes
music production, artist and product development, label management,
and website development. Prior to joining Compendia Media Group, he
developed video streaming content and services for both business and
entertainment applications, and he was Vice President of Creative
at CampusVibe.com, a rich media site for college students.
From 1989 through1999, White worked with Intersound/Platinum
beginning at Intersound Christian Music, where he signed, developed,
and oversaw production of recording artists and produced more than
twenty top-selling releases annually. As Vice President of
Platinum Entertainment and General Manager of CGI Records, he
doubled CGI’s market share in one year, taking it from the eighth
largest gospel label in 1997 to the fourth largest in 1998 and
earning Billboard magazine’s #1 Independent Gospel Label Award in
1999.
White has supervised live television performances, concerts, and
dinner theaters in his career. He has also managed recordings by
legendary R&B artists The Gap Band, Cameo, and The Ohio Players, and
major gospel artists Vickie Winans, the Mighty Clouds of Joy,
Jennifer Holiday, and William Becton.
