Gene Watson Signs with Intersound Records
Country legend to release new studio album in September

NASHVILLE, TN - (May 21, 2003) Legendary Texas born country singer Gene Watson has signed with Intersound Records, one of the four labels contained within the Compendia Music Group, for his new studio album. Michael Olsen, president of Compendia Music Group, made the announcement today.

Watson plans to record the new album in early June, and release the album, as yet untitled, in early September. A single from the new project, as well as a video, will be released before the album.

Watson's new album will be his first release for Intersound. George Collier, President of V-Tone Records and frequent collaborator with the Intersound label, said, "Gene and I recorded the last album together; it was such a good working relationship and the product did so well at retail and radio that we are delighted to be working together again via the Intersound label."

Gene Watson is also very pleased with his new relationship with Intersound. "I teamed up with George on my last album with RMG," said Watson. "I was really impressed with his professionalism and knowledge of the music business. George shoots straight; he is not afraid to tell it like it is. And when it comes to getting things done, he is on top of everything. I look forward to working with him and Intersound."

Known for hits such as "Love In The Hot Afternoon," "Farewell Party" and "Fourteen Carat Mind", Watson continues to tour regularly. His smooth traditional country styling has made him a longtime fan favorite. Since his entry into the country music scene in 1975 with "Bad Water," he has had 29 Top 20's, and 13 Top 5's.
