Compendia Media Group's Michael Olsen Named President Of Music Division

NASHVILLE, TN - (December 17, 2002) Michael Olsen, chief operating officer of Compendia Media Group, has been named president of the company’s music division, Compendia Music Group. Martin Tudor, CEO and president of Compendia Media Group made the announcement. Olsen will continue to be based at the record company’s main office in Nashville, Tennessee, while overseeing Compendia’s distribution center in Alpharetta, Georgia.

Compendia Music Group is structured as three “parent” labels -- Compendia, Light Records and Intersound Music – in addition to a distribution arm, Compendia Distribution Group. These labels, each with a separate staff and musical focus, have developed and distributed many successful projects during their first year of operation, including new releases from Joan Osborne (HOW SWEET IT IS), classic rock band Kansas (DEVICE VOICE DRUM), gospel legends Mighty Clouds of Joy (I WANT TO THANK YOU), new gospel talent Vanessa Williams (VANESSA), new age chart-toppers Taliesin Orchestra
(SACRED) and many others.

“Our success this year owes a lot to the amazing team we’ve assembled at Compendia Music Group,” said Tudor. “The wonderful music they’re fostering and promoting has caught the ears of the public. We expect to present many great surprises in the upcoming year - while others are struggling, we are surging forward.”

“Our choices have been deliberate, and our releases have stressed artistry and quality,“ states Olsen. “These factors – along with hard work – explain our exceptional first year as a company. Any label can throw hundreds of releases at the marketplace and hope that a handful succeeds. But Compendia Music Group does business a different way – we look for a select group of artists that can deliver powerful albums, and then work each of these projects in a way that’s appropriate for its audience. 2002 was just the beginning – we can’t wait to unveil our projects for next year.”

Michael Olsen has had a long and varied career within the entertainment industry. Over the past 20 years, his work has included teaching at the Yale University School of Drama, serving as VP/GM of the Denver Symphony Orchestra, vice president and general counsel of the Atlanta-based indie label Intersound and executive vice president of the publicly held Platinum Entertainment. Olsen joined Compendia Media Group after serving as president of CampusVibe.com, a Nashville-based music and entertainment company.
